About Zachary Kay,

With live loops and his hybrid kit, Zach takes on the roles of keyboardist and drummer at the same time. Weaving together intricate patterns and elegant tones, Zach can create trancelike soundscapes that instantly captures the room. His open feel is grounded by years of developing pocket, finesse, and soul. At 16 years old, Zach began studying rock, funk, and R&B under the mentorship of Berklee professor Jackie Santos. Over the next 6 years Jackie would use his experience as a renowned R&B drummer to mold Zach around the pure pocket and groove of artists like Anita Baker, Chaka Chan and Michael Jackson. It is with this foundation that Zach melds his style with the confidence of someone who knows they’re in the pocket. Because of his commitment, Zach would later be accepted to Berklee College of Music in 2019. As he attended Berklee, Zach found himself exposed to numerous cultures and genres that would largely form his sound. Performing with multiple groups playing anything from Funk, Rock, and R&B to Balkan, Flamenco, and Brazilian music. Zach’s deep understanding of harmony and years of experience allows him to quickly learn and adapt new songs to be performed, produced, remixed, or arranged.
